Logo design used to be an expensive and slow process. I know this because I ran a brand consultancy for 22 years. Some of the work we did was awesome and it won us lots of awards, but many of the simple jobs we did over the years, could now be produced far quicker and cheaper by getting some of the heavy lifting done by using LogoJoy.

 

What this does is take you through a very logical process of asking some simple questions.

Which of these set of colours do you think would work?

And Do you like any of these icons? (there are millions to choose from)

This is when the Artificial Intelligence comes in

It combines these three elements together and gives you some suggested drafts of logos. My experience says that few of the first ones are very usable, but the AI element steps in and the more feedback you give the system (ie I like that, I don’t like that etc) the more it learns. The logos then just get better and better. The more time you spend on the system the more polished the results. But saying that, it’s perfectly possible to create a completely professional logo in under ten minutes. I demonstrate that in the video above.

Different package options depending on budget

Perhaps the most impressive thing is the number of options you can work your way through. The following eight options, all of which feel quite different and offer me very different solutions, were all produced in around 20 minutes.

 

So how much is it?

Well it depends on your budget.

Basic package at $20

At the bottom end, a complete logo is only $20 but to be honest, this service is not far off useless. If you ever want to use the logo, you will almost have to recreate it as it is only a low-resolution version that you are given. So, for example, you would struggle to get it to work on a t-shirt.

Next option up is the Premium Package at $65

This seems to be by far the best value option. It says it gives you brand guidelines and we wrote hundreds of them over the years, but these just break down the colours and name the fonts. It’s a stretch to say it’s a set of brand guidelines, but it is a logo usage guide and this will ensure you can deliver it accurately around the rest of the web. I would suggest that it needs to add a CMYK breakdown for the colours however, rather than just #Hex.

As an option, you can upgrade to download the social media channel, art, but more of that in the next section.

And finally the Enterprise Option $165

This brought a complete surprise to me when I downloaded it. It also gives you the logo so that you can use it on pretty much all of the social media channels as channel art. This would be a huge time saver if you are setting up a business online, or just need a presence on the social channels for your offline business.

But the main change the Enterprise option brings is access to a live designer to help you finalise the design. Artificial Intelligence can get you so far, but if you want the design completely hand-polished, you need a human to make the tweaks. One slight weakness in the system is that it allows you to close up the letter spacing, but one thing I learnt from years of logo design was that a lot of the skill of a typographer is in closing up the letter spaces individually. This is known as the kerning and makes a big difference to the trained eye and a noticeable difference to the untrained eye too.

Summary
